This rim is based on high-quality 6061 aluminum and the knowledge we've gained with our Rough 30 over the years. It's been the starting point for our ongoing development toward a rim that meets today's demands in downhill and e-MTB riding.

The demands on materials and stability have increased enormously over the past two to three years. Long jumps, harder landings, and increasingly challenging trails define modern downhill racing. At the same time, the scope of use has shifted significantly: What was once considered typical downhill stress is now part of the everyday demands of enduro riding.

It was exactly this change that drove us to push the limits of our previous design even further. With specially reinforced rim sides and a separate hollow-chamber construction, we’ve developed a new rim, designed to handle these increased stresses — with impressive performance even during hard landings, long jumps, and the added weight of high-performance e-MTBs.

When ordinary rims reach their limits, that’s when this rim starts to show its true potential. As a logical further development of our Rough 30, it was specifically designed for the toughest downhill conditions, long jumps, massive drops, and the high loads of heavy e-bikes.

The result is a design specifically engineered for extreme loads, for riders who demand the absolute maximum from their equipment.

Consistent refinement down to the last detail

The base is made of high-quality 6061 aluminum. The specially reinforced rim walls with a separate hollow-chamber construction ensure a rim structure specifically tuned for high loads. Whether it’s hard landings in the bike park, long jumps on downhill runs, or the added weight of high-performance e-MTBs—this rim was developed for demanding conditions where stability and durability are priority.

HUBS:

This rear hub, developed specifically for downhill riding, is designed with an absolute focus on maximum stability, stiffness, and durability. Compared to conventional downhill hubs with 12×150 mm or 12×157 mm mounting dimensions, this hub features a significantly wider hub body and larger hub flanges. This creates the foundation for an extremely stable wheel setup—ideal for racing, high speeds, and the toughest conditions in the bike park.

Special DH Freewheel—Uncompromising and Reliable:

This downhill hub is equipped with a shortened Shimano HG freewheel body and is compatible exclusively with 7-speed downhill cassettes or single-speed setups. The shorter freewheel body allows the hub flange to extend further outward, resulting in a significantly increased flange spacing. The result is even greater rear wheel stiffness and optimal conditions for a stable, durable wheel build in downhill riding.

Maximum wheel stability thanks to a wide hub flange:

The extremely wide hub flange offers enormous advantages in wheel building: When combined with an offset rim on the rear wheel, it results in nearly symmetrical spoke tension on the left and right sides. The result is a much more stable, durable rear wheel with better force distribution—ideal for hard impacts, high speeds, and uncompromising racing.

Special DH Freewheel—Uncompromising and Reliable:

Flexible mounting dimensions:

This version is specifically designed for DH frames (12×150 mm/12×157 mm) and can be converted from 12×150 mm to 12×157 mm and vice versa. Direct power transmission – distinctive freewheel sound

Six pawls, with three of them engaging in a staggered pattern, create a 3° ratcheting action in a 60-tooth gear. The mechanism is also characterized by a distinctive, unmistakable freewheel sound.
